The Texas electrical grid was less than five minutes from suffering a weekslong blackout following a devastating winter storm in February 2021. Reporting on the ground over the course of two weeks, I wrapped a personal profile of winter peril into a data-driven explanation of what happened and how close Texas was to unprecedented catastrophe.
